Random Ramblings

Family, Life Style

We are on day 3 of the {31 Days} series.  Since some of you may be new readers and some of you may have been reading my blog for a while, I figured I would do a personal post.  For those of you who have been reading for a while, I figure you have probably picked up on some of my quirks and my ways.  I tend to be a bit silly and I love laughing.  I want you to really get to know me.  It may scare you away, but who knows…..maybe you will find my humor endearing 🙂

First, let me tell you about how much I LOVE funny animal pictures!  I mean….I REALLY love them.  I go nuts laughing.  Show me a dog dressed in panty hose.  I DIE!  Show me an alpaca doing a #selfie.  Fah-ghet-aboutit.

My husband said that for the first 5 years of our marriage he knew I had a sense of humor, but he couldn’t peg it.  Then came Pinterest.  Funny animal pictures and gifs galore.  There is no shortage of laughter in my life now.  He regularly emails me hilarious pictures of dogs.   He says I have a special laugh just for animals.  He is probably right!

My favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls.  And believe it or not, my husband is the person who introduced me to the series.  I didn’t have cable growing up, so I really didn’t watch any tv.  I saw season one when we were dating and I then purchased all of the seasons.  So many of my jokes involve Gilmore Girl quotes.

My ENTIRE family and most of my friends are very surprised to find out that I LOVE Duck Dynasty.  I watched my first episode 2 weeks ago and I have now finished the first 3 seasons.  I love the “red-neck” ways.  I love Miss Kay.  I really really love the wisdom of Phil.  I know I am about 4 years behind the trend, but I’m catching up.

Lets talk about books.  I had not read a book for enjoyment until 2009.  I told my good friend Sarah that I wish I enjoyed reading.  Sarah is an avid reader.  She talked me in to reading The Help and I fell in love!  I then read a few books by Jodi Picoult and Francine Rivers.  I now read between 10 and 15 books a year and I am learning so much.  I have found that occasionally I like fiction, but I really really enjoy non-fiction books.  I just finished reading A Love That Multiplies by Michelle and JimBob Duggar.  Michelle is a very encouraging mother and I found her take on family ministry really inspirational.  Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson and Feminine Appeal by Carolyn Mahanney are my two favorites that I have read in the last 5 years.

Join me back tomorrow.  Who knows what I will decide to write about.  Maybe something serious and important.  Maybe not.
