Someone came over not too long ago and, taking note of the large box of empty milk jugs on my porch in a box, asked what was going on there. The fact is, milk jugs are super handy tools for the garden. Yes, seriously. This time of year, we start saving up our milk jugs to use as soon as we plant our tender plants in the garden (those plants which don't handle even light frosts well). We cut the bottoms off of the milk jugs, and set them on top of the plants, to protect them. We also use some of them as berry picking containers, cutting part of the top off, but leaving the handle for easier holding. I'll post more about that once I use them! |
